'Kingfishers' - Mrs Williams' Class
Summer Term 2018 - Invaders and Settlers
This term, we have been learning about living in the UK during the time of Anglo Saxons and Vikings. The Longship Trading Company visited us to deliver a Viking Experience Day where the children engaged with a whole variety of Viking activities and artefacts. We learned all about timelines, landmarks, maps and even created some Viking style brooches. For information on all of our learning across the curriculum please look at the Newsletter below.
Here are photos of some wonderful examples of our practical homework task for this term. Well done everyone!
Our fantastic artwork and writing have been put on display in Mr Johnson's office.
We have written stories based on the adventures of Beowulf. Here is our class version
We have written Kenning poems about vikings
We have made Viking brooches, inspired from seeing those from Erik Eriksson's visit earlier in the term.
Erik Eriksson, from the Viking Longship Trading Company came to visit us during the second week back. We learned lots about Vikings and Anglo Saxons. He brought loads of artefactds and we were even allowed to try some on!
We have made Viking Cake called Blod Kaker. It was a rustic, chewy cake with a fresh cream, strawberry and raspberry filling. Afterwards we wrote recipes on how to make it. We even made a cake for the year 6s as a 'well done' for doing their SATs!
Kingfishers have been writing letters, complaining to the neighbouring Thane (Saxon Landowner) about his animals. We even signed our letters using our Anglo Saxon names!
