Your School Governors

Your School Governors

Our school is federated with Culworth CE Primary Academy and we have one governing body.
Our governors work across both schools but we make sure we have representation from both communities.

Types of Governor
Foundation Governors are appointed by the Diocese of Peterborough.  Parent Governors are appointed through direct election by parents. Staff Governors are appointed by the School.

I have been a governor at Culworth for many years and a Director of the C of E multi-academy trust which includes Chacombe and St Loys Primary Schools. Both my sons attended Culworth; now 16 and 18, they still recount many fond memories of their time at the school. As a retired business owner I hopefully bring some commercial knowledge to the role and continue to have a great interest in education and life-long learning.

I first volunteered to join the Governing Body of Boddington CE School in 2009 as a Parent Governor, transitioning across to become a Foundation Governor when Boddington and Culworth schools federated a few years later. Both my son and daughter attend Boddington School, and with it being a small community school I wanted to do what I can to ensure that it remains part of the community for the future. My business and financial background have suited me well to sitting on the Assets and Finance Committees within the Governing Body, along with supporting the school transition to an Academy in 2013.

My children both attended Culworth School and when my son was in Year 1 I became a Governor and have been one ever since (over 20 years).  I work from home as a Management Consultant and Accountant and have therefore always been on the Finance Committee.  In recent years I have been Chair of Governors across the federation of Culworth & Boddington schools and am also a member of the Peterborough Diocesan Board of Education.  It is a huge privilege helping Oliver Johnson, along with my colleagues, ensure the children in our care achieve the very best they can in every aspect of their education.

My name is John Moffitt and I live in Lower Boddington. I recently retired from being a primary school headteacher in Oxfordshire. I now enjoy water colour painting, keeping fit and well as well as becoming a recent enthusiastic Leicester City FC fan. Two years after my retirement I realise my passion for good schooling and education has not diminished. Having lived in Lower Boddington for more than 35 years, I am very keen to give something back to my community. I look forward to contributing to the development of both schools in the federation.

An active Churchgoer, former Churchwarden and Treasurer, I accepted the nomination from St John the Baptist Church, Boddington to become a Foundation Governor in 2010 and agreed to a second term from September 2014.  As a teacher in Home Economics and working in the Secondary and FE sector, and Section Leader for Care Courses prior to retirement, I have been pleased to experience the Primary Education sector at Culworth and Boddington Primary Academies – it has been a privilege to work alongside the FGB in support the Head Teacher and Staff in the move to Academy status and to appreciate the development of both schools for the benefit of the pupils.

Both my daughters attend Culworth School and love it and I work part-time on site at Mini Meadows Pre-school. I was delighted to become a Foundation Governor this year and become more fully involved in the wonderful community at Culworth as well as getting to know Boddington School better. I hope to support staff, pupils and parents. Prior to having my own children, I worked as a teacher in both primary and secondary schools, teaching French, German and P.H.S.E. so my involvement is with the Curriculum  Committee. In my free time I enjoy reading, craft activities and being beaten at board games by my girls!
