About our Kingfisher Class
Boddington is a place to discover, share and explore; a place to escape into adventures, a place for surprise and above all, a place where children love to learn.
Unique talents are nurtured through our varied and exciting curriculum, whilst our stimulating and inspiring teaching develops children’s passion and strengths. At Boddington, pupils’ imaginations are ignited from an early stage.
Current learning and topics
Boddington is very much a family school where we aim to cater for the needs of each child in a secure, stimulating environment.
The current topic in the Kingfisherclass is: 'Sail away'
Kingfisher class have been focusing on art work by Japanese artist Hokusai. They have looked at how to use line drawing to create the shape of waves in their pictures and created colour palettes for their paintings. Kingfishers have been reading the story Fergus Crane by Paul Stewart and they have written their own versions for part of it. They are now learning about poetry, specifically shape poetry about the sea.
We also offer Forest Schools programmes to our children - making use of the local environment. Forest Schools offers an approach to teaching that has been proven to engage children and improve performance.

As a school, we now have access to Oxford Owl, a website with free access to virtual books, matching the reading book bands, which we use in school.
You can use this website and our school login to access different virtual books at the correct level for your child.
This is an optional addition to the reading books that go home with the children in their book bags. The class log in details (pink log in box at the top right of the screen) are:
Class name: Kingfisher p/w Boddington
This will be appropriate for children who are beginning to read and those more confident, who are not yet ‘free readers’, (predominantly EYFS/ Key Stage 1), however it is available for all children using this single classname, for ease.
